Group F: Valeria e-tivity 2

Hi!
Searching in Technorati I found three interesting blogs about the topic I chose, sea:
• the first one is interesting because it is not a traditional blog, where people write about themselves etc., but it is a three-page- short story. The title of the story is: ”The history as an applied science”; the author, Ilya, writes about an adventure of a group of pirates who plunder both small ships and luxurious yachts in the Central and South-West Pacific Oceania. They had the fastest ship in that region and could catch up every vessel, but one day they met their match, too, when they get in touch with their competitor in those waters. If you are interested in knowing how this adventure goes on just click on the URL: http://www.authspot.com/Short-Stories/The-History-as-an-Applied-Science.52615
• the second one I found is instead a traditional blog, which title is “Into the blue night”. The author did not wrote long posts but he put some photos of the sea by night; they are all beautiful, and the language the author used to describe these photos is really poetic. See the URL: http://bugbear.wordpress.com/2007/10/18/into-the-blue-night/
• the third blog I suggest you is about a trip in Phnom Var, in Cambodia. The author went there and put in the blog some photos about a little market of this city, where women sell frogs and crabs. I think it is interesting because I learnt something on the life of that population and, since I have never heard of this town, seeing this blog made me curious to know a little bit more about it. I think that blogs can serve also for this scope: to increase curiosity for something that we do not know and to inform about it. See the URL: http://www.vuthasurf.com/2007/10/18/frogs-and-crabs/
The styles used in these blogs is different: the first blog I mentioned is a short story, so the style is quite literary, except when the characters speak, because in this case the language is colloquial. In the second blog the author used a poetic style ( for example at the end he wrote: “I thought of you when a spark glowed suddenly on the edge of the cold sea. Those thoughts kept me warm through morning.”). In the third blog the language is informal but the author gives us detailed information on the photos he posted. So, in these three blogs the language is very different according to the situation and the experience described. I also think that language depend to the writer and to what impression he wants to give to the reader.
Bye!

Hi Vale!!
I had a look to your blogs and I found them very nice and interesting, especially the one called "Into the blue night". I liked poetry and I think that the idea of the author was great! He wrote a sort of poem, associating his feelings with those beautiful photos, which suggested me a sense of loneliness. Moreover, the ocean by night reminded me the idea of sublime and the landscape seemed surreal and haunting.
The third blog about Frog and Crabs was very strange for me....the photo of the woman who is cutting alive frogs for sales, placed on the ground was disgusting....this photo gave me an idea of dirtyness,it seems that these people lived still in the prehistory, I wonder who will ever buy these frogs???
bye!!

HI VALE,
I really enjoy the blog called "into th blue night". I like poetry and in the past I also used to write poems especially in some particular moments of my life. I think the author of the blog had a great idea associating images of the sea with poetic words. I think that the sea may give you a good inspiration for your poems. I talked many times about the sea in my poems, as I associate feelings with the colours and the movements of the sea.
I really like the photos the author put in his blog. In my opinion many times images can convey more than a lot of words, and this is the case in this blog.

Hi girls!
I’m happy that you liked the blogs I suggested you, in particular the one called “Into the blue night”. Like you, I also think that the photos posted by the author are really beautiful and evocative, they give you a sensation of calm.
I agree with you, Ele, the third blog – Frogs and Crabs- is quite strange, but I chose it for this reason, because I think it is interesting seeing at something that we’ve never seen before. However, no doubt that cutting frogs heads is disgusting!
Bye!

Hi girls!
Vale, the blogs you suggested us are very interesting! I had fun reading the short story "The history as an applied science". I like pirates stories and moreover I like stories with a moral.
Your second blog is about poetry, and I have to confess that I'm not very fond of it. But this piece of poetry is very original bacause the images, more than the words, convy the author ideas. This pictures are quite dark and suggest the idea of the night, of cold , of something deep and lonly as an ocean can be.
And finally comes your third blog, that is the one that I like more: frogs and crabs in Phnom Var market. The images are very strong and presents us poverty and filthiness, which is something we are not used to. This women selling frogs and crabs should remind us how lucky we are! But let me say that there are also happier pics like, for example, of Sophy's weeding party, where all girls wear colouful dresses and smile.

Hi Cristina!
I'm happy that you liked the blog I've suggested you. The third blog is different from the other two, because it is strange and, as you and Elena said, it let us think on different things: dirtyness, poverty... But, as you said, it also contains happier facts! I think that often population in crises are humble but dignified, -just think of African people, with women wearing colourful dresses and particular hairdressing-. Are you agree?
Bye!
