Developing your own blog

Now that you’ve started exploring the blogosphere and seen other people’s blogs, it’s time for you to work on your own blog. In their comments on blogs, two students last year made the following comments: Francesca said “it is like a work of art: it expresses your personality" and Tania commented, bloggers "want to express their personal opinions and catch other readers' attention." This week it’s time for you to express your creativity and personality, to find your own style, and to figure out how to catch other bloggers' attention.

Have fun working on your blog!!

Sarah

Purpose: To start developing your own blog in order to start developing an opinion about what blogs are really about and to start reflecting on what you have learned so far.

Task: Log on to blogger and rather than clicking on our course blog, develop your own. (If you have difficulties doing this, please write a post to the blog and I’ll answer with a comment so that everyone can see.) You have the freedom to do whatever you want. Choose a style, change the colors, add some links and some images or pictures, etc. Please include: 1 - a welcome message (it can be the same one you used for the course blog, just copy and paste), 2 – a post in which you critically reflect on your first two weeks of blogging (e.g. what are your impressions) and if and in what way you think it can influence your language learning (e.g. reading colloquial English). Then come back to our course blog and make a comment on your group post (I will make one for each group) giving us the address of your personal blog.

Respond: Go and visit the personal blogs that the members of your groups have developed. Leave a comment on one of the posts in the posts in each blog in your group. You can choose which one and what to say.

Timeline: Friday, October 26 (task), Wednesday, October 31 (respond - Halloween !)

N.B. When blogging now, keep in mind the blogging etiquette you all came up with during our first speaking lesson as well as the rules for making a good blog post that we came up with together in the lab on Monday, October 15 (see "How Tos" in the sidebar menu).

You will also have Readings to complete for our speaking lesson on Monday, October 29 so please keep an eye out for those! I should be posting them Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

Dear Sarah,
as you would have noticed, there's only 2 people in group I (besides me) so I have been commenting on other 3 people of my choise just to have the same amount of work as all the other members of the course.I hope it is ok for you but if you have any other suggestions about how to cope with this, please let me know.

thank you,
Bye bye
Alessia
